Here's a little inspiration to take along on your next bicycle ride!

As I think about it, I have only two cyclists that I would tag as my biking heroes. Danny MacAskill (https://www.dannymacaskill.co.uk/), a BMX/Trials acrobatic marvel and Lael Wilcox (https://www.laelwilcox.net/), who is an amazing ultra-endurance, long distance bike-packing athlete.

On Sunday, May 26, Lael left Chicago and began an 18,000 mile record-breaking attempt at circumnavigation of the globe. Her journey is featured in a recent Bikepacking.com article (https://bikepacking.com/bikes/lael-wilcox-around-the-world-bike/#). The article details a bit about her, the challenge, the bike-build and the route. Lael can also be followed live on a map that shows current location, her speed, distance, averages and other metrics. There is also a link to an ongoing Spotify blog. The links to the live map and Spotify blog are featured in the above article. Of special interest to us in the Skagit Bicycle Club is that her route, at this time, travels along many of our favorite local routes; down Chuckanut Drive, along Bayview, over the bridge that we just cleaned off for her, along the Tommy Thompson, through town, past Heart Lake, over Deception Pass and down Whidbey.
