Bicycle Maintenance Class

At long last the bicycle maintenance class has officially come to fruition! Cody at Skagit Cycle Center in Burlington has so graciously offered to conduct a basic bicycle maintenance class at the Burlington store for up to 20 of our members at no charge to us. He considers our club an important part of the bicycling community in the region and wants to help support the needs of our members. The class is to be held after the shop closes on February 28th at 5:15 PM. For those of you that think it would be particularly beneficial to bring along your own bike to learn some of the basics like repairing a flat tire, adjusting your brakes and derailleur, etc., there will be eight bike stands available. Others can either show up with a wheel off their bike to learn hands-on flat repair or simply show up and watch the shop’s mechanics demonstrate repairs and maintenance on the bikes on hand. Since we are only able to have eight members that can bring in their own bikes, if you feel you are someone that is able to learn by watching and listening to a demonstration, or are fairly mechanically competent, please give some of our beginners a chance to learn these skills on their own bikes.

Register for the event on the club’s website’s calendar, or by cut-and-pasting the link https://www.skagitbicycleclub.org/content.aspx?page_id=4091&club_id=587323&item_id=2889806 into your web browser. If you would like to be able to bring in your bike that evening, please send an email to president@skagitbicycleclub.org expressing your preference. The first eight people who indicate they would like to bring their bike along to the event will be contacted and informed that they have been selected.

This will be an excellent opportunity to show our support and gratitude to the folks at Skagit Bicycle Center by purchasing bicycle gear and accessories at their shop. And in case you were not aware, Skagit Bicycle Club members always get a 10% discount on store purchases – discounts do not apply to bicycles.
