10AM ride Conway & Fir Island mileage TBD
About this event
If you are free tomorrow, consider a ride out to see the birds (and water) on Fir Island.
If we can’t navigate Fir Island, we can always just go a little further down Pioneer Highway, over Starbird, down Bulson and back to town.
Meet in downtown Mount Vernon near the totem area of Riverwalk Plaza, 506 Mt Vernon Terminal Railroad, Mount Vernon, WA 98273. https://maps.app.goo.gl/1pmd7NEDyKjMAAEVA (copy & paste into browser)
Leave at 10.
Post ride food is varied, lots of eateries nearby.
Yes, windy and chance of rain, what the hay, it’s pretty much winter.
It’s warm though.
No map, nothing to download this week. More of an exploration of our road conditions than a charted route.
Tuesday morning rides are about 25-35-ish miles long.
The terrain in and around the Skagit Valley allows for riding both hills and flats.
There is a different route each Tuesday.
Routes will be communicated via a RIDER ALERT email a few days before the ride.
It’s highly encouraged to preview the route in Ride With GPS (RWGPS).
Both e-bikes and acoustic are welcome.
Safe bike handling skills are required.
E-bike riders can expect to ride at a pedal bike social pace of 12-14 mph.
Faster riders feel free to pull ahead as a group.
If you finish ahead of the main body of riders, please text me when you are safely back at the starting point (John Yaeger 360.708.6862).
Let’s buddy up and/or look out for each other.
Consider activating Location Sharing in Google Maps or Apple Maps.
On these club rides we don't leave anyone behind.
Helmets are required.
Sign up for this ride online and complete the release/waiver.
There will be a paper sign up form on morning of ride if all else fails.
Join the Skagit Bicycle Club to receive notifications of rides and other social events. At $30/individual or $35/family per year it’s tremendous value.
