Hello Fellow Riders,
This Tuesday finds us meeting up at Haggen’s, 2601 E. Division St., Mount Vernon. Let’s meet at the east end of the parking lot. After the ride we can go in and enjoy some lunch from the Market Street Deli. No need to move cars or pedal on a full belly, just saunter on over after our ride.
We’ll ride east, down the hill and cross the Nookachamps Creek onto Gunderson and Beaver Lake Roads then a short stint on Hwy 9 and across the Skagit River. We just skin the SE corner of Sedro Woolley. Onto Hwy 20 towards Burlington. We veer off of 20 and head to the Skagit River to ride along the dike for a ways. The surface there is gravel. Very well packed, but gravel none the less. There may be a spot we have to go back and find a new way. On the other hand, maybe we’ll get through as planned. Think adventure :)
This will be a fun ride if you don’t mind a little more vehicular traffic than some other rides. The short patch of gravel will be right along the river with runners, dog walkers and some other cyclists. Or, maybe, nobody else will be around. Each day is different.
