Hi Riders,
The Skagit Spring Classic is only weeks away, on May 10. As you probably know there are four lengths of riders, 25, 45, 65 and 100 mile. I’m thinking it would be nice to break all those rides down into shorter chunks, short enough they would fit within a typical Tuesday morning ride. Maybe you’ve always wanted to preview the ride before the event. Now’s your chance.
Our first ride will be a no-brainer, just ride the 25 as designed. That’s what’s coming up on the 11th. Here is the RWGPS link: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/49919842 (Printable map link below)
Let’s meet at the Skagit Regional Airport, parking close to the True North Bakery, 15426 Airport Drive, Suite B
Burlington. Their website https://truenorthbakery.com/location/ assures me they will be open on Tuesday. Let’s ride then check out the True North.
In successive weeks we’ll have to take a few liberties with the routes to find appropriate starting and finishing points. The 45 mile ride might become a couple of 22-ish rides. The 65; an assortment of 30’s or 20’s. The 100 miler, maybe we’ll be getting our legs by then and we can bite off a couple or several longer rides. Maybe we’ll finish this project before the Skagit Spring Classic on May 10, maybe not. Of course these are just ideas. Let’s see what we can do with them. Stay tuned.
Please understand these shorter rides in no way can compete with the flavor, excitement, verve, panache or camaraderie you’ll experience on May 10 at the one and only Skagit Spring Classic. At least we’ll have a chance to see the geography of the routes.
Speaking of the Spring Classic, feel free to volunteer and help us put it all together. Our man Barry Antler is the volunteer coordinator this year and would love to receive a phone call or email from you, barryantler@gmail.com, (831)428-5203.
cheers,
John
