Enjoy a day of cycling on Lopez Island on Wed Aug. 14, 2024. We're taking the ferry scheduled to leave at 9:40 am from Anacortes. You should be in line with your ticket at 9:20 am at the ferry terminal. Do check for delays or cancellations before heading out. The ride will be cancelled if the ferry is cancelled. You can explore the island on your own or tag along with me. I plan to ride to the south end of the island on the scenic back roads for a picnic at Agate Beach Park. Bring your own lunch, or you may be able to pick up some food at the South End Market near there. Then we can head across the island to Shark Reef Park for a short hike if we have time, and then head to the Village for ice cream/cold beverage before going back to catch the ferry. Social pace 12 to 15 mph with stops for interesting things and to regroup. I do not have an ebike, so hills will take me a bit longer than the ebike crowd. If you miss a turn, I'm not going to chase you down, so be prepared to figure it out on your own. There are several easy to miss left turns on fast downhills. This route is about 34 miles and yes, there are hills! Return ferry times are 4:15 pm or 6:20 pm. I will have a sign up sheet and a few maps if you are unable to sign up online.
