About this event
Our September Social Rides will begin at La Conner Marina, 325 N 1st St.
Tuesday morning Social Rides vary, usually between 20-30 miles long. E-Bike riders can expect to ride at a pedal bike social pace of 12-15 mph. Hills and wind affect pace. Re-grouping a time or two during the ride is normal. Newer riders and all bikes are welcome. Rider’s skills and experience need to be sufficient for safe riding on the road. Potential new Club members are welcome.
We ride a different route each week. The weekly routes will be communicated in a RIDER QUICK ALERT email a day or two before the ride.
The routes can be downloaded to your bike computer or smartphone.
Preview the route in Ride With GPS (RWGPS) to see both the route and profile. The route is a birds eye view of where we turn and where we go straight. Most of us are familiar with the good old paper road map, this is the digital version. The profile tells us how flat or hilly the route is. If you look at the numbers of the left side of the profile you can do a little arithmetic and determine for yourself if you like what you come up with. Big differences between the low point and the high point mean a bigger elevation difference. Thus, the bigger the number, the better the hurt. Sometimes there is a good view at the top but not always. Usually the climb itself is ample reward.
In addition to navigating, RWGPS logs times, dates and paces of rides. Add a heart rate monitor and you can really nerd out with all the data.
As members of Skagit Bicycle Club (SBC) each of us have access to RWGPS without charge. It’s included in our club dues. Send me an email if you would like to be able to take advantage of this outstanding club benefit.
We have a bite of food and a refreshing beverage after our ride at The Firehall Kitchen and Taphouse 402 Morris Street, LaConner, after our ride https://www.firehall-lcb.com/
