About Our Club
Who We Are:
The Skagit Bicycle Club (SBC) is a not-for-profit organization centered in beautiful Skagit County, WA, about 70 miles north of Seattle and 30 miles south of the Canadian border. Our membership of approximately 250 people promotes and advocates for bicycling as well as conducting many rides and other activities throughout the year.
We operate with the following goals and objectives:
• To support health and fitness through cycling
• To support and promote frequent scheduled rides for cyclists of all abilities
• To provide bicycling safety education to the community
• To protect the rights and interests of cyclists
• To provide concise and updated information on area club events
• To meet new friends and have fun
The Club was first organized in November of 1989 by local cycling enthusiasts. Click here for a short history of the early days of the Club. Since those early days the Club has grown and prospered. We provide group riding opportunities all year round (weather permitting). Rides are available for all skill levels on this website's About Rides 2024 page and details are posted on the Events Calendar page including an easy way to register to attend rides.
Join our Weekly Rides:
If you are interested in riding, find a ride on our Events Calendar that suits your skills and available time, then just show up with your bike and helmet. You will be welcomed by a group of friendly people who share your interests. Non-members are welcome to join us for a "test ride" on any posted ride to see how you like it. (Let the Ride Leader know who you are at the start of the ride. Membership is required to participate in additional rides after your "test ride" for liability reasons.) Join our Club
Join our Biggest Annual Event , the Skagit Spring Classic:
Each spring we hold the Spring Classic_2024 to raise funds for our Club and the local bike-related groups Who We Support. This is the premier one-day bike ride in the North Puget Sound region with beautiful scenery, quiet roads and great food. Each year we host 400 to 600 riders with a variety of skill levels for this fabulous event. Generally four routes are available: 25 / 40 / 66 / 100 miles, and our club's volunteers provide support with delicious food and water stations, sag vehicles, route maps, and a satisfying carb-loaded spaghetti dinner after the homestretch!
Join Ride Events with Our Partner Bike Clubs:
We partner with other cycling clubs in the North Puget Sound through the North Puget Sound Bike Alliance (NPSBA) to offer other riding opportunities and discounts for participation in rides sponsored by partner clubs. Click here for a listing of annual events. NPSBA
